Purpose of BAP
The Theta Tau Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) at WSU is an
organization designed and run by a group of business students. Its
purpose is to provide you, the business student, with information
and personal contacts that will assist you in becoming a
professional. In order to accomplish this, various activities are
planned. These events will enable you to meet other business
students and faculty. In addition, you will have the opportunities
of meeting professionals from various business fields and
prospective employers. Some of the activities outlined include:
Office Tours
Office Tours of various accounting firms, industries, and
not-for-profit organizations are taken throughout the year. On these
tours, students meet representatives of the entities. They are
familiarized with the organization’s objectives and goals, hiring
procedures, and work atmosphere.
Professional Meetings
Professionals visit Weber State to talk about issues that are
directly related to accounting, finance, IS&T, as well as other
topics. Speakers for these meetings come from various financial
backgrounds and bring with them "real world" information that is
helpful to students.
Professional Activities
Professional activities include the annual "Meet the Firms", "Mock
Interviews", and "Professional for a Day." "Meet the Firms" is held
during Fall Semester and provides the opportunity for both students
and professionals to meet on an informal basis. In this setting,
students can explore the various options available in their
discipline and see which firm or organization would help them meet
their career goals. "Mock Interviews" are held during Spring
Semester and are a good way to brush up on interviewing skills.
Students meet with actual recruiters and get tips on how to better
present themselves in real interviews. "Professional for a Day"
provides small groups of students the opportunity to shadow
professionals and experience a day in that particular office.
Social Activities
Social activities include the annual BAP Honors Banquet and various
semester socials. The Honors Banquet is held Spring Semester. During
the Banquet, new members are recognized and a WSU Alumni who has
established him/herself as a leader in the business profession is
honored. Also honored are scholarship recipients and the newly
elected BAP officers. The semester socials are a fun way to get to
know faculty, BAP members and pledges, and other business students. |
