March 10, 2003
1. Welcome: Drew Weidman
Present: Drew Weidman, Nancy Collinwood, Gloria Perez-Jensen, Lori Drake,
Cindy Stokes, David Eisler, Marsha Richter, Woodie Slaughter.
Excused: Ron Jensen, Wendell Rich.
Special Guest: Cherie Nelson
2. Approval of minutes:
Gloria motioned to approve, Marsha seconded.
3. Cherie Nelson talked about the "Higher Education Academy" and handed
out the curriculum
with the calendar. She is in need of participants for the pilot program.
The cost will be picked up by the institution. In the future the cost
could be around $150-$200 for each participant. The pilot program will
take place in April, May and June. In the future the academy will probably
take place once or twice a semester.
4. David Eisler gave a Legislative update. The good news is that there
will be no new 2% cut.
The Davis campus was only funded for ½ of the O&M needed. The funding for
the Swenson Gym was not allocated, however next year looks good. Medical &
dental benefits were funded at 8% with the actual looking like it will be
somewhere between 12% and 14%. A long and lengthy discussion followed on
salary increases.
5. A question was asked about whether or not the UHESA letter was sent out
or not. Nobody had the answer.
Moved to adjourn meeting:
Nancy motioned, Cindy seconded.
