Discussion
Staff lunches with the President
- President Millner will be having lunch with 10-12 professional and
classified staff twice a month. She intends to have lunch with
every employee over the next couple of years. She has asked PSAC
to develop a random list of professional staff to invite to these
lunches.
- PSAC will provide a list of all professional staff to the
president’s office. This list will be generated through
statistical randomization. The president’s office will then select
6 professional staff from the top of the list until all professional
staff members have had an opportunity to eat lunch with the President.
Medical Benefits Update
·
Drew Weidman updated PSAC on medical benefits.
·
He showed PSAC members the plans that other Utah Higher Education
institutions are using to provide a frame of reference for understanding the
kinds of choices Weber will have in crafting our own plan. It was noted
that Weber’s plan may not be set up like any of the other plans. There are
many variables to an insurance plan.
·
There will be a survey delivered to all WSU employees regarding
their opinion about the variables of this plan. PSAC members will write an
email to encourage professional staff to carefully fill out the survey and
provide their opinion.
·
It was noted that the institution’s website for information about
this topic does not provide adequate information for WSU employees. It is
recommended that that website is modified.
Upcoming meeting with Jeff Livingston, CSAC
- Drew Weidman has invited CSAC members to upcoming meeting with Jeff
Livingston regarding legislative issues.
- PSAC board agreed to have a special meeting for this and not try to
combine it with our monthly PSAC meeting.
- Woodie Slaughter will set up a date, time, and location for the
meeting with Jeff Livingston, PSAC and CSAC board members.
Update on CSAC collaboration
- Drew has begun building bridges with CSAC. He has invited them
to the meeting with Jeff Livingston about legislative issues and to
partner with PSAC to represent all staff in the Medical Benefits issue.
- PSAC hopes to be able to continue to collaborate with CSAC.
Union Building Executive Committee Representation
- Joan Davies will be asked to represent both professional and
classified staff on this committee.
- Woodie Slaughter will also participate in the Union Building
Executive Committee and will keep PSAC updated on that is happening
there.
Redistricting PSAC to meet new organizational structure
- Due to some reorganization in the university PSAC recommends
modifying the representative districts of the committee. Doing
this will more evenly distribute representation for professional
employees.
- These districts will be as follows:
