NOMINATION SELECTION
Lonna Rivera represents all that is good about WSU’s
professional staff. She is dedicated, hard-working, flexible, and a great
team player. She has worked at Stewart Library for 16 years in several
positions. For the past eight years she has worked in the Reference
Department. During that time, both her working schedule and her job duties
have changed but she has accepted these changes graciously. When her hours
changed to require working until 8 pm every Saturday, did she complain? No
way!
Lonna’s job duties recently changed as well. As the
library obtained more and more electronic resources, managing them became
more problematic. Lonna accepted the responsibility of managing our
electronic resources, even though the job duties were very much different
from what she started out doing eight years ago. Again, she has accepted
the challenges of learning new tasks graciously and enthusiastically.
She is a wonderful example of helpfulness. She strives to
serve everyone at the reference desk to her very best. Whether helping
faculty, students, or community users, she is a good example of how WSU
professional staff represent the university in a professional, courteous
manner.
Lonna has also served on several campus committees,
including the Staff Development Committee and the Faculty/Staff
Association. And she’s an active participant in various committees within
the library.
She is well liked and respected among her peers in the
library and is very deserving of being honored
as an outstanding professional staff member of the WSU community.
