AT WEBER STATE NEWS, OUR MISSION IS THREE-FOLD

First, WSN is a real-world training ground for students interested in television news, video and audio production, and broadcast and video writing.

Step into the control room on a production day and your adrenalin immediately starts pumping. Cameras frame up, cues given, tapes roll, anchors read scripts, graphics are inserted, the TelePrompTer scrolls, but all the viewer sees is a professional-looking newscast.

Nearly 90 percent of our graduates find jobs in television and video production.

Part two of our mission is to provide news and information to Weber State's campus.

Students watching WSN on the shuttle learn about homecoming events, registration, student activities, concerts and plays.

We provide coverage of Wildcat football, basketball, track and field, golf, volleyball, soccer, hockey and more.

The third part of our mission is to live up to our slogan: "The only local television newscast for Weber and Davis counties."

Our news crews cover stories the Salt Lake stations don't carry. We did in-depth coverage of the 2005 municipal elections, progress on the commuter rail system, and issues surrounding Ogden's downtown redevelopment.

This year we've added a series highlighting people, events and issues concerning our local Hispanic community.
